Resetting the "Time for Regular Service" Message

When the dealership does maintenance on your car, they reset the car's internal service interval clock. Basically, you'll get a message on the LCD readout in the gauge cluster that says "Time for Regular Service" to let you know when your 10k/annual maintenance is due. It looks like this, or something similar:​​

Since we're doing our regular service ourselves, we'll have to clear this message on our own. Luckily, we don't need any special tools or software to do this and clearing it is pretty simple.

The process differs slightly depending on your car, so make sure you follow the correct guide.

Gaydon-era Aston Martin vehicles (Volvo key)

​​​If you have an early DB9 or V8 Vantage with the traditional-style Volvo key and key fob, your console should look like this:​​

The T1/T2 button is located to the right of the analog clock.

Follow these steps to clear the Time for Regular Service message:

  1. Put the key in the ignition in "Off" position.

  2. Press and hold T1/T2 and Read buttons.

  3. Continue to hold the T1/T2 and Read buttons while turning the key to the "On" position.

  4. Wait for Triangle to blink 3 times, then release the T1/T2 and Read buttons.​​​​

Gaydon-era Aston Martin vehicles (Crystal ECU)

If you have a Gaydon-era Aston Martin with the crystal "ECU" key fob that inserts into the dashboard, your console should look like this.

The T1/T2 button is on the left side, next to my thumb in the picture above. The Read button is across the radio display on the right side.

Follow these steps to clear the Time for Regular Service message:

  1. Put the key (the "ECU") into the slot in Position 1.

  2. Press and hold the T1/T2 and Read buttons.

  3. Continue to hold the T1/T2 and Read buttons while you push the key into Position 2.

  4. The warning triangle will blink, release the T1/T2 and Read buttons at the third blink.

The message should go away.

2nd century

2nd Century Aston Martin vehicles

Step 1

Select Menu Home on the steering wheel switch pad.

Select Trip on the instrument cluster to display the Odometer.

Press the Call and OK buttons at the same time and hold them for at least three seconds to open the Workshop menu.

Step 2

Select Service Reminder on the instrument cluster.

Follow the on-screen instructions shown on the instrument cluster.

Step 3

Set the ignition to Position 2.

Press the OK button to confirm the display messages.

Select Full Service and then Confirm Service on the instrument cluster.

Step 4

Cycle the ignition to close the Workshop Menu.

Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the notification reset has been completed successfully.
